This is a protected historic building in which you can see original stained glass windows by Maumejean (Paris) and a beautiful library with mahogany wall panelling. The building has four stories and two lovely staircases with a beautiful antique rug custom made by the Royal Tapestry Factory. The hotel is snuggled in one of the best parts of Madrid, on the corner of Paseo Alfonso XII and Calle Montalbán. It is across the street from Madrid's Retiro Park, and inside the triangular area formed by the Prado, Queen Sofia and Thyssen Bornemiza museums.

- Cleanliness: 10 This hotel is very clean and comfortable.
- Location: 10 We enjoyed being close to Retiro Park and away from the center of town; yet we still felt close enough to everything important to walk there.
- Common facilities and services: 7.5 We did not have breakfast, but we did order a fruit plate to the room and thought it was nice.
- Staff: 10 The staff was lovely and very helpful.
- Quietness: 5 Outside noise was not a problem, but people in the hall (including housekeeping staff) were a bit noisy when we attempted to sleep late.
- Room: 10 We were in Europe for two months and stayed in 5 different hotels. This was our favorite room during our entire trip. It was large and modern, with a big closet. We loved it!
- Value for money: 10 This hotel was priced comparably with other hotels we stayed at throughout Europe, but this was by far the largest, most comfortable room we had during our two month trip.
