• Positive: This is a beautifully furnished boutique hotel in a historic building on Las Ramblas. All the rooms (our group used 3), although slightly differing in layout, have modern furnishings and several novel features - eg. electric beds, automatic electric bidet - plus all the luxury features you would expect to find in a modern 5 star hotel. Although it has no restaurant, there is a comprehensive delicious breakfast available at an extra charge. They call it "continental" but there are several hot items as well as a cold table and all the usual juices, cereals, cakes, etc. There is also a bar. The staff are absolutely outstanding and nothing is too much trouble. There is free internet access available in the foyer. This is a beautiful, conveniently located, hotel which thoroughly deserves its No.1 rating in Barcelona on the Trip Advisor website.

• Location: 10 Right on La Rambla; excellent location for atmosphere and site seeing.

• Staff: 10 Very helpful, very pleasant, very friendly.
• Quietness: 10 Black out shades made for a very quiet room overlooking Las Ramblas
• Room: 10 Very comfortable; loved the bathroom design. Large room. Beds were so very comfortable
• Value for money: 10 Excellent value for the money. One of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed at at a fraction of the cost.

• Positive: Both the room and service were excellent at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff at the front desk were so helpful in every way. We loved our room, and I especially like the elevating bed. It was the only comfortable bed my whole trip. I liked that the hotel had a computer in the lobby for use. I did not try the breakfast, so I cannot comment on that. I also liked that the bedroom was separated from the bathroom, creating a sense of privacy.
• Negative: Only downside would be that there was no mirror in the bedroom, so it made it tough for two people to get ready at the same time (2 girls).

• Positive: The Location was great, but the people were even better. The extremely helpful and friendly MonteCarlo staff and tasteful accommodations make this one of the BEST city Hotel experiences we have had in over 28 years of travel.

• Staff: 10 From the minute we entered we were warmly greeted, provided with helpful directions, maps and information. The staff here is great!
• Quietness: 10 We were on a busy street but did not even know it. The evening turn-down service included the window shades.
• Room: 10 The lighting controls, the TV wake-up call program, the high-tech toilet seat and space-age shower taps make this a very sleek experience. Did I mention the extremely comfortable adjustable beds?
• Value for money: 10 We have paid a lot more for a lot less.
