This hotel classified as a 5 star Deluxe Monument is the result of an impeccable refurbishment that has both, respected and enhanced the interior design of the emblematic 1908 modernist style building by the famous architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, whose work has been classified as World Heritage.. Located in the best area in the centre of Barcelona, it is the only building in Passeig de Gràcia that provides a marvellous panoramic view not only of the entire street, but also of the whole city. The rooms are decorated in natural and warm colors; green, stone and chocolate reflecting peace and harmony. The big windows flood every room with light. The interior furnishing, of exclusive design, creates a very special atmosphere of harmonic lines, noble materials and colors, combining modernist elements with a modern touch. They are all equipped with minibar, internet connection (wireless), LCD TV (30”), fully equipped bathroom, piped music and everything expected from a first class hotel.

Front desk staff never once said they were sorry for the problems we had with the room, even when the lack of routine maintenance caused us to have to change our room.

  • Negative: the charge for breakfast! we were told when we arrived that 'breakfast is on the lower level in the morning,' but were not told that we would be charged for it (and how much) until after we had eaten. I feel it should have been made clear that breakfast was NOT included, as the way we were told made it seem like it was

  • Negative: The hotel has LOST its customer service spirit. 1. when I called the hotel to extend my reservation, I was told flatly: we can't help you: you MUST go on line and make a new reservation. 2. check in is ridiculously slow and bureaucratic. We asked for the key for one guest to be prepared in advance. The guy refused to give it to us: you MUST wait in line here for 15 minutes to see me. 3. We delivered some briefcases to the hotel and requested that they be put in each guest's room. They refused, and put them all in one room. Imagine the guests returning after dinner and their briefcases cannot be found. 4. the door man told the taxi to go to ESADE rather than to Telefonica, down by the Forum. 5. the breakfast lady is like a guard dog, keeping you out until she checks on you, rather than welcoming. She does not bring the bill to the table, but rather prevents you from leaving while finding the bill, just when you are in a hurry to get going. 6. the barrel style chairs in the room are uncomfortable, useless, and take up valuable space. 7. Not enough power outlets where they are needed. I think the hotel needs a new manager who is customer oriented, rather than complacent, having a feeling of entitlement with this beautiful property.
